My love of art started at an early age and grew with me. Whilst I was in full time employment it bubbled away in the background. In 1996 I took a BA Art degree course under private tutelage. In 2002, with new artistic principles and understanding my painting took on a more significant role. I studied art history for two years at the UEA and received private tuition for painting and drawing. More recently I attended summer school at The Art Academy in London for portraiture and this year I have decided to take early retirement from the NHS to concentrate fully on my painting career.

I work primarily in oil but also use charcoal, pencil and occasionally collage. I specialise in portraiture and love to paint animals, particularly of the canine variety. Every so often I can be drawn to paint still life when the mood takes me. I often repeat or revisit subjects, particularly those that carry a personal significance. I find myself completely absorbed in a project when I have an emotional connection to the subject. My paintings can be seen in galleries throughout Suffolk and London and occasionally in group exhibitions within the local area. My work is regularly shown at the Mall Galleries in The Discerning Eye, New English and Royal Society of Portrait Painters annual exhibions.
